Brogramming, Bugs, Battlestar Galactica
Bugs are fun for no one. Users are wondering what’s up… did they do something wrong, is the app under load, is there a workaround, is it just a POS? Developers often struggle to reproduce exactly what those batshit crazy users did to cause the bug. And I personally find it very difficult to do or think about anything else when there’s a bug causing users pain.
We just squashed one of those.
I worked with Myles and Henry to route this one out; they really stepped up. By noon we had fix number 1. A few hours later - via New Relic and some custom instrumentation -we wrangled one of those bugs that presented so confusingly it deserves its own episode of House. Stressful as it may be, the experience is quite satisfying. And now Shelby is running silky smooth. Huzzah!
Thank you, to all of our awesome new users over the past couple of days. My apologies, to all those who encountered this bug. The feedback has been amazing, even from those with a less than perfect experience.
We’re going to change the way the world watches video. To get there we will improve Shelby every single day. Please, let us know how we’re doing.
Thus concludes my inaugural episode of Brogramming, Bugs, Battlestar Galactica.
